Curse Bound Blog Tour: Nälu Characters as My Little Ponies

I don’t watch My Little Pony (sorry, I’ve always been a fan of Carebears *winks*), but when an author tells me they designed their characters as My Little Ponies, I am 1000% in.

Thankfully for us, J.L. Mbewe was kind of enough to share too!

And let me tell you, I LOVE THEM! If they started selling them at my local Wal-Mart, I would search earnestly to find every single one of them and put them on my bookcase.

Now that you’ve heard me ramble, let me introduce you to J.L.’s awesome new release, Curse Bound! (THEN I’ll show you the ponies. Hehe!)

Warning: If you have not read books one and two of The Hidden Dagger Trilogy, spoilers ahead.)

About the Book

Kael’s worse fears have come true. Betrayal has shaken the Guardian Circle, the High Guardian is dead, and Ayianna and Prince Vian are in the hands of the Sorceress, but he and his companions must finish their quest, before they can attempt a rescue mission. Unfortunately, Desmond’s parting gift left them stranded on the western cliffs of Nälu.

Jathil, once heir to the throne of Arashel, believes her father will aid them, but first she must face the crimes of her past. When she does, she cannot believe the outcome, nor the rippling effect it will have on the nations.

Meanwhile the Alliance braces for war, but division threatens to undermine their efforts. When Nerissa returns from Ganya with the dragon regiment, she discovers a bigger problem. The curse bound are waking.

As the quest nears completion, Kael is forced to choose between his heart and duty, and neither choice bodes well with him. Either way, he will face the Sorceress and her armies sooner or later. The battle for Nälu has begun and there can be only one victor.

Nälu Characters as My Little Ponies

Yes, you read that correctly.

YEARS ago, someone on Twitter was doing a contest where we design our own My Little Pony and the winner would have their design made into an actual My Little Pony.

I didn’t win.

But today, I share with you three characters from Nälu who I made into My Little Ponies.

Ayianna.

An earth pony. Technically, she is a half-earth pony. Half unicorn. She takes after her mother more. Ha! But that might explain the glittery stars. Ha!

(Laura: She’s SO beautiful!!! Those glittery stars are totally her. <3)

Kael, a unicorn.

(Laura: I’m screaming. This. Is. Perfect. *heart eyes*)

And Saeed, a unicorn.

(Laura: Ahh! I love those braids in Saeed’s hair! He even oozes wisdom as a My Little Pony unicorn. I love it!)

Oh my goodness, I NEED these in my life!!!! They are stunning and absolutely love the designs of each of them. I totally wouldn’t mind if you included a certain red-haired Prince too. 😉 Thank you so much for sharing these incredible drawings with us, J.L. Mbewe!

Which of the ponies is your favorite? Share with me in the comments below!

About the Author

Writing as J. L. Mbewe, Jennette is an author, artist, mother, wife, but not always in that order. Born and raised in Minnesota, she now braves the heat of Texas, but pines for the Northern Lights and the lakes of home every autumn. She loves trying to capture the abstract and make it concrete. She is currently living her second childhood with her wonderful husband and two precious children who don’t seem to mind her eclectic collections of rocks, shells, and swords, among other things. Here, between reality and dreams, you will find her busily creating worlds inhabited by all sorts of fantasy creatures and characters, all questing about and discovering true love amid lots of peril.

Her debut novel, Secrets Kept, was nominated for the 2014 Clive Staples Award. Her second novel, Darkened Hope was a semi-finalist for the 2017 Alliance Award.

I am a huge My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic fan (and Care Bears –Adventures in Care-a-Lot was my fave series) so I LOVE this so much –I think Aiyanna is my favorite. I adore her cutie mark!

Eeepp! I was a huge fan of Care Bears growing up (and for some reason didn’t like MLP. Weird, right?) Her mark is so cute! 😀 Thanks for stopping by!
