#onelinewednesday: Cayleth Warding and the Scarlet One

I wasn’t prepared to read a creepy story this October, but nonetheless I got one!

However, please know that I don’t say that in a bad way. *winks* If I was going to unexpectedly read one, I’m glad that it was Cayleth Warding and the Scarlet One by Jessica Hernandez.

Up until her book, I don’t think I have been quite so surprised by the multiple twists. I mean, there was no way to determine what was going to happen next because the author would consistently throw a wrench in someone plans or even what I thought was the plan. (Hurrah Jessica!)

One of the biggest elements of surprise was in fact the world-building. It was extremely fascinating in how the children had made home on this island and “operated” as a community. I loved the idea of elders and new ambassadors, which probably stems from how much I enjoyed upcoming ambassador, Sylandriel.

She was such a fun character and enjoyed her endless chatter (despite that some characters didn’t. *winks*)! More than once did I smile and laugh at what she said, especially if she was dead on about a situation or topic.

A case an example is the quote I’m sharing from her today. (I mean, could she describe my brain more perfectly?¬†Haha!)
